ADHD Assessments
Undiagnosed ADHD is often a component of compulsive behaviors, underearning, poor financial management, and more.
We offer a convenient 20-minute test, available online or in-person, for individuals aged 6 to 66. This test provides valuable data on a client’s impulsivity, movement, and attention.
The goal of CSAT therapy is to help individuals achieve and maintain recovery, foster healthy relationships, and enjoy a healthy sexuality.
Compulsive Sexual Behavior
Struggling with compulsive sexual behaviors can feel isolating and overwhelming. It can leave you feeling ashamed, anxious, and disconnected from your spouse and loved ones.
Therapy with a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT) focuses on addressing and treating sex addiction and related compulsive behaviors. A CSAT is trained to provide specialized care that includes a comprehensive assessment, individualized treatment plans, and evidence-based interventions.
Key aspects of therapy with a CSAT include:
- Assessment: A thorough evaluation to understand the extent and impact of the addictive behaviors, including any co-occurring disorders.
- Education: Providing information about sex addiction, its causes, and its effects on the individual and their relationships.
- Individual Therapy: One-on-one sessions to explore underlying issues, develop coping strategies, and work on personal growth.
- Group Therapy: Facilitated group sessions where individuals can share experiences, gain support, and build a sense of community.
- Family Involvement: Engaging partners and family members in the therapy process to address relational dynamics and support overall healing.
- Relapse Prevention: Developing strategies to maintain sobriety and manage triggers.
- Skill Building: Enhancing life skills, such as emotional regulation, communication, and healthy relationship building.
EMDR Therapy - Not just for Trauma!
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is a well-established therapeutic approach used to treat trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
However, its applications extend beyond trauma treatment and can be utilized to guide and influence future physiological responses in several ways:
Desensitization of Triggers:
EMDR can help individuals desensitize and reprocess distressing memories and experiences that trigger physiological responses like anxiety, panic, or physical pain. By reducing the emotional charge of these memories, future triggers can evoke less intense physiological reactions.
Stress Reduction
alleviate chronic stress by processing past stressful events and improving the body’s ability to manage future stressors. This can lead to a more regulated autonomic nervous system response, reducing symptoms like elevated heart rate and muscle tension.
Phobia and Anxiety Treatment
By targeting specific phobias or generalized anxiety through EMDR, individuals can experience a reduction in physiological symptoms such as sweating, trembling, and rapid breathing. EMDR helps rewire the brain’s response to feared stimuli.
Pain Management
by addressing the emotional and psychological components of pain. By reprocessing memories and associations related to pain, individuals may experience a decrease in their pain perception and related physiological responses.
Enhancing Performance
optimize performance in sports, public speaking, and other areas by desensitizing performance-related anxiety and enhancing positive cognitive and physiological responses. This can lead to improved focus, confidence, and physical performance.
Improving Sleep
By processing distressing memories and reducing anxiety, EMDR can improve sleep quality. Better sleep can have widespread benefits on physiological health, including improved immune function, mood, and cognitive performance.
Emotional Regulation
develop better emotional regulation skills, which can positively impact physiological responses to emotional stimuli. This includes reduced instances of somatic symptoms like headaches, gastrointestinal issues, and cardiovascular symptoms related to emotional distress.
Substance Abuse Recovery
For individuals recovering from addiction, EMDR can address underlying traumas and triggers that contribute to substance use. This can lead to more stable physiological responses and a reduction in cravings and withdrawal symptoms.
Enhanced Coping Mechanisms
By reprocessing traumatic and stressful experiences, EMDR helps individuals develop healthier coping mechanisms. This can mitigate the physiological impact of future stressors and improve overall well-being.
Overall, EMDR’s ability to reprocess distressing memories and alter maladaptive physiological responses makes it a versatile tool in promoting long-term mental and physical health.
Mindfulness & Somatics
In mindfulness, many people find the solace they need to manage addictions, escapism, uncontrollable desires, compulsive behaviors, and more.
In our sessions, I’ll introduce various techniques tailored to your needs, from guided mindfulness to breathwork, helping you stay grounded and present in daily life. My somatics approach incorporates body movement, walking, and aspects of Kinbaku to focus on the body’s sensations, movements, and experiences, releasing stored tension and improving emotional regulation to promote holistic well-being on physical, emotional, and psychological levels.
I also offer Virtual Reality experiences to enhance your journey with peaceful, immersive spaces.
Incorporating body movement therapy and connective Japanese rope tying, my approach helps clients develop a deeper connection to their body and its signals, leading to profound shifts in how they experience life.
“The rope wraps around not just my body, but my soul, binding me to the present moment.”
